For Referring Vets
A referral pathway that keeps you in the picture
Physiotherapy works best as an extension of your clinical plan, not a parallel one. Here is exactly what happens after a referral, and what you can expect to receive.
The Pathway
What happens after a referral
-
01
Refer
Call, email, or have the owner mention your practice when they book. We contact you directly for written consent before any hands-on work begins.
-
02
Assessment
Full history, static and dynamic gait assessment, and hands-on palpation. Findings are recorded against your existing diagnosis, not instead of it.
-
03
Report
A written clinical summary is sent to your practice after the initial assessment, covering findings, working diagnosis and the proposed plan.
-
04
Ongoing updates
Further reports follow at each significant review point, so you have a current picture without having to ask for one.
Reporting
What every report includes
Findings on assessment
Static conformation, gait analysis and palpation findings, described in clinical terms.
Working diagnosis
The musculoskeletal picture as we see it, cross-referenced against your own diagnosis and imaging where available.
Treatment provided
Manual therapy, electrotherapy or WINBACK tecar used, and the clinical reasoning for each.
Home programme summary
What the owner has been asked to do between visits, so you can factor it into any concurrent management.
Review plan
Proposed frequency of further treatment and the criteria for stepping down or discharging.
Flagged concerns
Anything outside our scope, such as a change that looks more surgical, or a plan not being followed, flagged back to you promptly rather than left until the next scheduled report.
