Online Service
Online gait analysis for horses & dogs
Frame-by-frame video review of how your animal moves, a live call to talk through the findings, and a written report, wherever you are in the world.
What It Is
A diagnostic look at movement, without the travel
Online gait analysis is a video-based assessment of how your horse or dog moves. You film a short, guided set of walk and trot footage, and Megan reviews it frame by frame, slowing the footage down to spot asymmetries, compensation patterns and subtle stride changes that are easy to miss at normal speed.
It is not a lesser version of an in-person assessment. For questions about gait, straightness and movement pattern specifically, video analysis is genuinely diagnostic, and it removes the travel radius entirely: it is used by owners across the region and worldwide.
The Process
How an online gait analysis session works
-
01
Book & receive your guide
Book online and we send a short filming guide beforehand: what to film, where, and how to get the best footage with just a phone or tablet.
-
02
Film your animal moving
Walk, trot and a few simple movement checks, uploaded securely through your Equigate client portal ahead of your call.
-
03
Frame-by-frame review
Megan reviews the footage in detail before your call, slowing it down to spot patterns that aren't visible at normal speed.
-
04
Live call & written report
We talk through the findings on a video call, then you receive a written report you can share directly with your vet.
What's Included
Everything in a single session
Frame-by-frame video review
Slow-motion analysis of walk and trot, looking for asymmetry, compensation patterns and changes in stride.
A live video call
A face-to-face conversation to talk through what was found, in plain English, with time for your questions.
A written report
Formatted so you can share it directly with your vet or forward it for a claim.
Follow-up recommendations
Honest guidance on next steps, whether that's a home programme, an in-person assessment, or nothing further needed.
Who It's For
When online gait analysis makes sense
Outside the travel area
Beyond our in-person radius but still want an MSc-qualified physiotherapist's eyes on how your animal moves.
A second opinion
Something about a diagnosis or a plan does not sit right, and you want an independent, evidence-based read on the movement itself.
Monitoring a known issue
Tracking a horse or dog through a rehabilitation programme, or keeping an eye on a condition between in-person reviews.
Pre-purchase movement checks
An independent look at how a horse moves before you commit, alongside (not instead of) a vetting.

Common Questions
Before you book
If your question is not here, call and ask. It is usually faster than filling in a form.
07817 001834For movement itself, it is genuinely diagnostic: gait asymmetry, straightness and stride pattern all show clearly on slow-motion video. It does not include hands-on palpation, so where a hands-on assessment is essential, we will say so plainly rather than guess.
Yes, the same legal requirement applies as for any physiotherapy treatment. Tell us who your vet is when you book and we request consent on your behalf before your session.
We will tell you clearly what we found and what it likely means, and recommend the right next step, whether that is an online rehabilitation programme, an in-person assessment, or a conversation with your vet first.
Just a phone or tablet, a flat area roughly 10 to 15 metres long, and someone to lead or walk alongside your animal. The filming guide sent before your session covers exactly what to capture.
Yes, many owners use it as an independent movement check before buying a horse, alongside a standard vetting rather than replacing one.
Yes, video consultations work anywhere with a stable internet connection. If you are outside the UK, please email us before booking so we can agree a suitable time across time zones and confirm payment. A small number of clinical recommendations are UK-specific, and we will flag those clearly.
